Ian Anderson no es un diseñador gráfico recibido. Pero yo creo que uno no necesita tener un título para ser diseñador. Y este es uno de los casos que puede demostrarlo.Su charla se basó en preguntas que las personas del público le hacían, y él simplemente respondía. Tocó muchísimos temas, pero rescato tres de sus frases en especial:
-"Busca inspiración en todos lados"
Cada lugar, objeto o experiencia puede ser una fuente de inspiración. A veces sólo necesitamos salir de nuestra estructura de trabajo. Aconsejó, por ejemplo, que cuando estuvieramos desarrollando un proyecto fueramos hacia nuestra biblioteca, tomaramos un libro y lo abrieramos en una página al azar. Tratar de asociar lo que vemos con lo que estamos haciendo nos dará una nueva visión del proyecto.
-"Sé fiel a ti mismo"
No hay razón para aceptar un trabajo a menos que uno quiera hacerlo. El dinero no debería ser el motor de nuestras decisiones, sino aquello con lo que nos sentimos cómodos.
-"El buen diseñador debe entender a las personas y saber qué quieren. Y eso no se encuentra en Internet"
Ian no es un fanático de Internet. Esto se debe a que cree que los diseñadores pueden aprender mucho más saliendo a la calle, interactuando con la gente o leyendo. Sinceramente comparto mucho esta visión, aunque a veces es difícil alejarse de la computadora.
Ian Anderson is not a graphic designer. Or that's what he says. But I think that he doesn`t need a paper saying he's a designer just to be one.
His talk was based on questions that people asked him and he just answered them. He spoked about a lot of things, but there were three topics that I found the most interesting.
-"Look for inspiration everywhere"
Every experience, every place, every object can inspire us. Sometimes we just need to break our work structure. He suggested that when we were in the middle of a project, we just go to our bookshelf, take a book and open it at a random page, and try to asociate what we see with what we are doing.
-"Be faithfull to yourself"
We don't have the obligation to take a job, unless we want to do it. Money shouldn't be the reason for taking a job.
-"A good designer must understand people and know what they want. And that's something you don't find in the Internet"
He's not a big fun of Internet. That's because he thinks that designers can learn more things going outside, interacting with people or reading. I think the same way, but sometimes it is difficult to stay away from the computer.
